Sometimes if my mouse is acting up, I will clean the bottom of it. Because my mouse is a Lazar mouse, I don't need a mouse pad. Try and see if there is any kind of hair or dirt on the bottom. Second is to see if it works better with or without the mouse pad.

You're trying to say that the mouse does not function properly on one computer, but is fully operational on the other right? Well, it's simple... The computer, where the mouse is not operational, is the problem. Try having the motherboard checked for short circuiting in the ports...

Check these :
1- Check its wire not sliped or twisted .
2- If it is USB mouse , connect it to other port .
3- Maybe something wrong with your windows , so you can :
a) try system restore to restrore your pc to an earlier time ( Start menu >> all programs >> acsessories >> system tools >> system restore ) . select Restore my computer to an earlier and find some date to work well
WARNING : WHEN YOU RESTORE YOUR COMPUTER , THE SOFTWARES THAT YOU INSTALLED AFTER THAT DATE WON'T WORK .
b) Install new windows .
GOOD LUCK

Hi!
I presume, from your problem, that you are using a USB mouse, and not a PS/2 one.
This occurs to quite poor USB driver management. This often occurs in Win XP because, for some unknown reasons, sometimes the HIP (Human Interface Parser) forgets to use the USB mouse...
Unplug it then plug it back again, eventually to another USB port. Quite pesky if you ask me...

Iif a mouse fails to operate or should it perform erratically, it may need a ball replacement. Because of the delicate nature of this procedure, replacement of mouse balls should only be attempted by properly trained personnel. "Before proceeding, determine the type of mouse balls by examining the underside of the mouse. Domestic balls will be larger and harder than foreign balls. Ball removal procedures differ depending upon the manufacturer of the mouse. Foreign balls can be replaced using the pop-off method. Domestic balls are replaced by using the twist-off method. Mouse balls are not usually static-sensitive. However, excessive handling can result in sudden discharge. "Upon completion of ball replacement, the mouse may be used immediately. It is recommended that each replacer have a pair of spare balls for maintaining optimum customer satisfaction. Any customer missing his balls should suspect local personnel of removing these necessary items."

It could be because of several reasons. There could have been some loose connxn or the mouse could have been dirty. There might also have been a driver problem. Jus try out all these possibilities and try to find out or narrow the reason. Then post the exact nature of the problem and u`ll find it out.

you can try to format and reinstall in case you are not able to run a mouse properly on a computer, and all other efforts failed (to reinstall mouse driver, connecting it to another port etc)
