Why are Kazakhstan part of UEFA and not the Asian Confederation when all the other Central Asian states are, eg Uzbekistan, Turkmenistant etc ?

Because they decided that they are closer to Europe than Asia, and so asked UEFA to admit them in. Though strangely, in other sports (like Olympics etc) they are counted as Asia.

It's the same as Australia transferring from Oceania to Asia.

the same could be asked of turkey and isreal. its for practical reasons when it comes to travelling spectators,if i had my way turkey would be playing in the asian qualifying groups and not in the UEFA cups.

its a european country and european football is governed by uefa,its an old russian state i think.
