Depends on your needs and budget actually. If your requirement is for personal, gaming n multimedia i guess you can go in for HP or Mac or Sony(pretty costly). If its for business purpose u can choose between Dell, HP or Sony again. Whatever u buy, make sure u have the latest features like Dual core, Widescreen a DVD Writer, good memory n stuff like that.

A Desktop Replacement computer is wider than other laptops (mostly made by HP). It doesn't use mobile processors but a desktop processor AND it uses desktop parts. This means if your graphics card or anything non-integrated goes bad, you can replace it easily instead of sending it back to the manufacturer (the monopolizing bastards).

I don't have much faith in the mainstream offerings. Try a MacBook pro or if you must go intel go Wintel and opt for the new Packard Bells. Also you have the very lucrative option of having one custom made by Voodoo or Falcon North West.

Get a MAC! They're intuitive, easy to use and you can do just about anything you'll ever want to do on a computer with one! It's amazing being mobile with a laptop -- your productivity goes WAY UP -- go for it!
