Do the men who pay these women for sex show any respect for them - NO. So I don't see why I should.

Yes, even as a racist and religious bigot ( which I freely admit I am) I have been shocked by some of the remarks on here regarding those poor girls.

They WERE someone's daughters, let's not forget. And if there was not a demand for prostitutes, there wouldn't BE any.

I have always favoured going after those vile "kerb crawlers" , personally. It should be easy to catch them- the fact that they go round and round the same street for hours on end, being something of a give away?

While I agree with some comments of certain Answerers, I have to say that calling them prostitutes all the time is perhaps isn't fair, but that's the media for you. If it were 5 teachers then the media would write about the 'Murder of the 5 teachers' by now. Or it could be 5 factory workers, the 5 nurses, the 5 supermarket workers etc... If it was just the one woman then I'm sure they wouldn't say 'the murder of the Ipswich prostitute' instead they would say the name of the lady.

The reason is that they were killed doing the job that they do. If they were teachers killed in schools or male builders killed on building sites then it is very likely they would also be referred to by their profession in the media. Yes it is horrific they they were murdered and had to live their lives this way but that is the way it is,that is the news. I don't even necessarily think it is to do with sexism or disrespect, they are the facts. How much respect would people have had for these women [yes they were not "girls" they were adults] if they had seen them touting for business late at night on a street corner as they drove past before they were brutally murdered?? I suspect very little.
I feel very sorry for the families and friends who have lost their loved ones

There is a certain amount of stigma attached to the sex profession and that will always be the case I'm affraid. If a girl sells sex for money on the streets, she is dubbed a prostitute. If she sells sex in high class hotels for large amounts of money she is dubbed an Escourt.
Whatever the title it is given, selling sex for money is called prostitution and the name for such a person is a prostitute.
It is a very sad occurance that these young girls lost their lives to a monster that roamed the streets preying on their destitute situations. Let's hope justice is done.

they were prostitutes and kept the black market and crime and violent underground situation alfloat which is a bad thing. He may have been a curb Crawler, but go to amsterdam and its ok. He is a murderer a kerb crawler would not be a harsh enough.

The arrested man may turn out to be a lot more than a curb crawler. He may be a murderer, and everyone will call him that.

What's the big deal about calling people what they are? Names aren't always remembered, and it does appear to be the common feature related to their unfortunate demise.

Because society can't understand why a women would allow 100s of different guys to screw her, it does'nt matter how desperate you are. There is no exuse, however that doesn't mean they deserved to be murdered, but by doing what they were doing they have put themselves in a vulnerable position. I am sorry but I really have no sympathy for hookers, they are the lowest of the low, but no they don't deserve what has happened to them Why didn't they try rehab?? some of those girls had children and they wouldn't even attempt to kick the drug habit for them, that's low, now those kids are going to grow up living with their knowledge their mother let 100s of guys screw them for money, Its irresponsible and being a drug addict is no exuse, ignorance is never an exuse.

well, it just goes to show - women are still not treated as equals to men in certain situations........ it's like if a woman has a load of one - night - stands, she gets the reputation of being a bit of a slapper...... if a guy does exactly the same, then they think that he's just 'one of the lads'. equality for woman has come a long way...... but as you've figured out, it still has some way to go yet....

The headlines were there as the women were murdered because they were prostitutes, but you are right.
We all know now and it seems terribly degrading to their memories to continue to refer to them in this manner

These girls still belong to a family and have people that love them in their own way. Maybe they have not had the right guidance in life, and help. It is disgraceful that someone has taken their lives away from them, and killed them in cold blood.
