Eat more fiber, eat better, drink more fluids, stop eating foods that are binding, pay attention to your digestive system. When your body tells to to have a bowel movement, have it, don't put it off.

Go to any wal-mart of drug store and get some mag-citrate. It's a glass bottle comes in lemon lime, cherry, and other flavors. Drink the whole thing. It may take more than one day but drink LOTS of fluids. After you're all cleaned out then you need to manage it. I'm sure you've heard all the crap about more fiber, more water, more exercise but that's only half the battle. Some people don't poop right! try a stool softener everyday and stimulant lax as needed and talk to you dr. you may need to try Zelnorm.

yes go to a doctor right away and see why you have not had a good bowel movement in three years. That can be very dangerous, and you should make a doctors appointment as soon as you can, and decuss it with your doctor, he can help.

You need to eat more vegetables and fruits, and you need to eat whole grain foods. Cut out all the white refined flour products from your eating.
And....The best solution I have found is to eat a 1/2 cup of raisin bran every night.

You must be having some unearthly food.
Have enough water. Make sure that couple of days you have enough fibre based food like wheat(varieties), leafy vegetables, avoid fried, oily food. Have some bananas daily.
Stop having toilet cleaners like pepsi and coke or any aerated drink.
I'm sure you will succeed.
