Hi!

No password is stored on any server, but the hash of the password. The hash is the result of the password processing. When you enter the user name and password, the pass is processed and the hash resulted is compared to the existing hash on the server.
If both hashes are identical the the pass is valid, otherwise..
It's about impossible that 2 ore more users share the same hash.

It is possible, in theory, to reconstruct a pass from its hash, but it's not practical.
For instance, if, for processing passwords, one site uses DES or TDES than, it would take like 24 years to decrypt...
Usually, processing algorithms are DES, TDES, MD4(Win 95/98), MD5 (Win 2k&XP) and some other.

This is to prevent someone stealing the passwords file!

Good luck!

the user name/password combination will be stored in some server and in an encrypted way. It won't be readable and whatever be the length of the password, it will get converted to some fixed length and stored so that even guessing the password based on length will also be not possible.
