I really don't see the style in wearing baggy clothes, I'm glad people are starting to wear fitted clothes, instead of everyone walking around with their pants lower than there knees.

I think it's all about fashion. When baggy clothes were in then that's what a lot of kids wore (black, white, whatever..) As far as black kids are concern, i think it's because their fashion icons are changing. People like Kanye West, Jamie Foxx, and other stars wear clothes that are more fitted, and therefore the rough edged style of clothing is starting to be traded for a more "preppy", clean cut look by those attempting to mimic the lastest fashion statements displayed in the media. I don't really think this style is "here to stay" though.. I think it is what is, a popular style. And as the styles change, so will people's wardrobe... regardless of the color of their skin.
Oh.. and here's a thought too... maybe some black kids just like American Eagle....

Sweetie if you knew ANYTHING about fashion you would know that the designers that do the designs for your "White companies" are of various ethnicities. It is NOT about the clothes it is about how much a company can make through the clothes and the companies prefer to hire a various area of expertise in fashion. Fashion is fashion. Also, if you took the opportunity to step out of your world, you would notice that several white kids dress like black kids. Also if you step into a Hollister you would know that the company also sponsors black models. In order to bring in the business the company must cater to those they feel should be wearing the clothes. Ever since I can remember, Fashion is also about the clothes and not the person. Also what is with this black and white thing?? What are Asians and Native Americans and Indians and the like supposed to wear?? Nothing?? Get with the times man. The fashion world caters to everybody. It's not about who you are but how much you are worth! Hope that answers your question.

Okayit's not a white or black style it's called being an intelligent person.Wearing proper clothes shows you have respect and class and that you're intelligent. If someone came to my store for a job interview wearing baggy pants and some "bling bling" i'd tell them they can turn around and walk right back out and don't come back until they can get an education and learn to dress proper so they don't scare away my customers. It's just so rude and uncivil to go around dressing like that showing your booty to everyone-it's so disrespectful! What kind of example is this setting for america's future-the children? You're practically telling them it's okay to be street hoodlums and they're probably going to wind up in jail!

ROFL! Well you do know that once Black people take over a 'trend' then that's when it really takes off. Think about it, White people never thought about getting rimms on their cars until they realized that Black people were on to something.
I'll bet you're nervous now, because if we're dressing like the White kids, next we'll be scr*wing your girl friends too, huh? The mere thought of that scares you, doesn't it?

I don't really listen to rap. I like a few songs here and there, but that's about it. In english class teachers always told us to write what we know, so I guess that's kinda what gangster rappers are doing. But shouldn't there come a time when they'd wanna stop living the lives they live?

I'm kinda offended by this. Your from DC and I live in Maryland but I'm from Georgia. I don't know what you all styles are up here. But when I was in high school everyone had their own style. Sometimes people would dress down and sometimes they would dress up with shirts tucked in and belt buckle showing. There is no such thing as dressing WHITE or BLACK! It's just a style!

Maybe they are finally starting to realize that gang culture was never cool to begin with?
Now, if we could just get them to marry before procreation, teach them to be faithful to one woman, not abandon their children, stay off drugs and in school, speak proper English, not freeload off the government, and actually get a job and do some work...

Fashion is not governed by skin color! What is the difference if they're white or black. All you Americans should come to Europe for a 3 month treatment, we don't waste time on senseless issues like racism, not because we don't care but we just don't have racist tendencies.

Fashion is always changing, it was baggy clothing for a while, now it's not, it probably will return again some day... fashion changes for all groups, minorities or not.
