By actual distance, the nearest tube station is Oxford Circus although don't forget that there are loads of different bus routes which pass the shop and stop nearby.

Push and shove your way from Oxford Circus Tube station. Head out and turn left down Regent Street. Try to keep calm and dont' stand on anyone or let anyone stand on you. Be prepared to push and shove your way into the store, grab what you can (don't even think about using the lifts at this time of year or you will still be there in January). Bring something to do in the queue such as phoning everyone you know. Push your way out of the shop and then head for the nearest bar because you will need a drink after that!
I would not advise it unless you absolutely have to have something that Hamley's has that no other shop sells. It is a bun fight and stressful. The toilets stink and they are only on the top floor. If you can go to a local toy shop I would recommend it as they probably need the money more and will be far more pleasant.

The nearest stations are Oxford Circus and Picadilly Circus.
Both have exits to Regent Street. Hamleys is on the East side of the street, slightly closer to Oxford Circus

It's about equidistant from Oxford Circus and Picadilly. The store is half way down Regents Street.
From Oxford Circus, go down Regents Street towards Picadilly and Hamley's is on the left, about 4-5 minutes.
From Picadily, go up Regents Street towards Oxford Circus and Hamley's is on the right, about 4-5 minutes.
Merry Xmas!

One thing every Londoner learns is to avoid Hamleys like the plague at Christmas!!! It's on Regent Street, nerest tube Oxford Circus..... however It's crowded (understatement of the century!) the only toilets are way up on the 5th floor miles away, the lifts take ages to come and although it's got lots of toys, there's nothing spectacular. I would advise that if you know what you want, buy it online or shop at Toys R Us. If it's the experience you're after go to Harrods where their toy department is quality and large and there are toilets on every level, plus lots for the mums and dads to see too.

It's half way between Oxford Circus station and Piccadilly...but if you are feeling lazy get off at Oxford circus as it will be down hill...then when you are done buying toys go catch the tube at Piccadilly..again downhill....
