When choosing a shower head look for the gallons per minute ( GPM ) rating. If you want more pressure get a lower number rating. If you want more flow get a higher number rating.
I think the thing you are looking for is more water out of the shower head and that is FLOW not pressure. You can have super pressure on a line that puts out 1 gallon per Minute but, you can not get any more water out of that line what ever you do as it will only flow at 1 GPM If you raise the GPM you will have more water.

Are you looking for more volume? Or a harder spray? It's hard to get both at the same time without changing the size of the lines and/or increasing the pressure.
Imagine a water hose...with your thumb over the end, you get higher "pressure", (a forceful spray) and without your thumb, you get greater volume but lower "pressure".
The Model MAINTES140VP showerhead gives a great forceful spray while saving water. I've tried 4 different, much more expensive showerheads...and this one is great. Feels like the shower you get in a good gym, but saves water. We have two discriminating shower users here, and the consensus is that this is the best.
It's proof that good things can come in small packages.
I bought it at Home Depot for about $5!
Update: I went to Home Depot today and found the one I'd bought before...and it looked like that one I suggested above, but the name on it is "The Incredible Head", made by Alsons Corporation, a Masco company. It cost $4. Solid brass, swivel end, lifetime warranty, standard 1/2" threads.

You may simply need to clean your old head - perhaps it's blocked.
You should get some "teflon tape" - white tape - not even costing a dollar - so if you remove the old head you can wrap some tape around the threading before you put it back on.
Then take the old one off - perhaps it's simply blocked. Remove the blockage and put it back on.
If it's more than that, a new head may not do it, if the problem is in the water delivery system. If so, you may need a new circulator or something - that's getting into a plumber call. But you should be able to get decent pressure from your existing head if its' not blocked.

I didn't tell you this: Take the Water saver" it's the small black thing that's just inside the shower head by the part that screws on to the water pipe and it has small holes or slits in it. This is suppose to slow down your water so you don't use that much, the government says so.
What I do is take a 3/8 inch drill and drill this sucker out so it's a clear shot down the tube to the shower head. Clean all the plastic crap out that gets in there from drilling and you'll see a difference. Send it to the government, they wanted you to have it.

find the Commando 450, the Stockholm Superstream or the Cyclone F Series. The Commando 450 is actually used for elephants in the circus, and the other 2 are Silkwood radiation shower heavy. Unfortuantely they are all black market shower heads made in Europe, so you will have to "know" people to get them. I wish I could tell you, but I promised to keep it under wraps.

Simply buy a good shower head (you can tell if it is junk) then take out the flow restrictor and install.

pull out that black rubber piece inside the shower head where you would attache it to the pipe. it is a water saver and it supposed to control the amount of water that comes out.
