He flunked his exams. However, just before he ran for office, his grades were changed for the better..

Well , whatever we may think of this person, and his crackpot religious fundamentalism, remember this....
He was at one time, of sufficient intelligence to solo fly a jet fighter . I would suggest to you that only people of above average intelligence could do such a thing.
