Because students ask, wheres the profit? Unless you become a great author or researcher, neither of these majors will stereotypically make you rich. Second, they limit your job outlook. Unless you pursue a specialized graduate degree with one of these as you're undergrad, you may very well be limited to only teacher. Whereas business and art are more versatile.

Because students get lazier every year. Geography and history involve a lot of memorizing, while there are easier subjects that do not.
A second reason is that America is slowly withdrawing itself from the world - figuratively speaking of course! With all the misery coming from the outside, it's no wonder. The question is, whether it is the smart thing to do. The world is globalizing and that's unstoppable.

Because of cut backs in school programs...
and you can make more as a business major.
