Hear, hear!! Right on, tell em sister!! Joking aside, you are spot on except that it is our immune system that kills viruses and cancer (which could be viruses too) - Food does most definitely kill viruses - garlic for one is a very powerful virus killer. There are many herbs and other food items that kill viruses. It has even been scientifically validated that chicken soup helps cure a cold. (especially due to the vitamins A, garlic, onion) Just because they can't be patented and sold for a fortune doesn't mean they don't work. Our doctors are not into natural methods of prevention or cure. Medical schools have been bought by the pharmaceutical companies, as have medical journals, non-profit organizations that CLAIM to disseminate information on prevention and even TV (they are a huge customer with the money they spend on advertising) so you can bet they have influence. And they have the doctors and the public just where they want them - believing it has to come from a prescription to be any good.

Well, I wouldn't have thought it took a PhD either, but I could be mistaken. Viral infections within our body cannot be killed in a way that is safe for our body. Sure, take the viral infection of a common cold and expose it to 1,000,000 degrees F, and it will die, but unfortunately, we're likely to as well if we do that while we have this cold.
As far as diet. That has absolutely NOTHING to do with KILLING the infection. What you're suggesting is that a good diet will prevent viral infections completely, which is simply untrue. There are many people in the world that eat an optimally healthy diet, get an optimal amount of exercise, sleep, and all of that, and have the added bonus of modern medical understanding, being able to optimally balance vitamins, and get supplimental vitamins specifically to prevent colds and the like. But guess what? Many of them still do get colds.
Like it or not, fruits and herbs will not kill a cold, and will not prevent the human body from getting a cold with 100% accuracy. I'm not saying it won't help out in the well being of the human body if balanced correctly, but to think that we could have a way to immediately end a common cold and that some multibillion dollar research corperation wouldn't release it and make billions and billions of dollars is simply asinine. As is the notion that any diet can prevent illness 100% of the time.
I think you should really do some research on the subject before making such bold claims. People are not lying about there being no cure for viral infections. The thousands of doctors around the world, believe it or not, are not all fools that watch too much TV and don't know about biology.

Everybody isn't!
Obviously you choose to live a vegetarian lifestyle which, of course, can be a very healthy way to live. However your question asks about cures for viral infections.
Viral infections exist. That much I'm sure you will agree with. They are almost impossible to cure because they vary so much that any treatment to kill the virus would kill the person as well.
But your affirmation that our diet consisted of only fruit and 'herb bearing' seeds (whatever they are-did you mean seed bearing herbs?) is incorrect. The human digestive system is not capable of digesting cellulose, as many herbivores, such as cattle, do, so if we had to survive solely on the fruits and seeds you mention we would become extinct (or at least dead) during the first winter.
Humankind developed as omnivores and we ate both meat and vegetation. We can be healthy whether we eat meat or not.
Your affirmation really falls down when you suggest that if we eat only fruit and seeds we will never be sick. Thousands of herbivores die every day from dieases, including viral diseases as do, of course many carnivores. There is no difference in incidence of viral infection between herbivores and carnivores.
You are, of course perfectly entitled to live your life in any way you wish and eat only the foodstuffs you are happy with. The sole reason that many vegetarians seem to have a healthier lifestyle than meat-eating people is that, because their diet is better monitored, they eat less (which is probably a good thing for most people, me included) and are more aware of exactly what they are eating. It should be said, though, that many vegetarians do suffer deficiences in vitamins. and many take supplementary courses of these components to maintain their health.
Enjoy your life in whatever dietary style you choose.
Cheers,

I don't know about 'cures' for it but my doctor often say that if anyone has viral infection in the family, let it come to pass. The person who has it, will recover on it's own. What I do if I have one is- of course, see a doctor. But after coming home without any prescription, I would simply take a rest and drink lots of fluid. But if kids are affected, you really have to let them see their pediatrician first who might suggest some over-the-counter remedies for cough or tummy ache.+ I remember my doctor saying that there aren't any cures for viral infection. It comes and it goes.

I got clinically diagnosed with genital herpes (type 2) about 3 years ago, whilst I was still attending college and had a foolish one-night stand. I understand a lot of people say this, but I swear I had never done that sort of thing before. I just made a massive mistake that one time and suddenly I felt like I was going to have to live with the consequences for my entire life. The worst part was feeling I could never date men again. In the end, who wants to go out with someone that has sores around her "you know what" area? But since a friend shared this movie https://tr.im/aZZUo everything improved.
Not only was I able to remove all traces of the herpes simplex virus from my system in less than 3 weeks, but I was also able to begin dating again. I even met the man of my dreams and I'm so lucky to write that just last week, in front of everybody in a crowded restaurant, he got down on one knee and proposed to me! This system provided the chance to be happy and experience true love again. Now I hope that I can help others too by sharing this story.

There is no cure currently for viruses. Only vaccines for prevention. But for herpes simplex one or cold sores, the moment one feels on onset of a breakout, apply pepto bismol to the area. Drug side affects are not always negative. Boy the drug companies do not want people to know this. Benadyl is great as a sleep aid for many people.

First, what you are describing is not about curing a viral infection, but about help to strengthen your immune system.
However, even strengthening your immune system doesn't necessarily protect you from contracting an infection illness. It helps greatly, but it's NOT 100%.
Also, medicine does have antiviral agents, but they are reserved for life-threatening viral illnesses, such as pneumonias, and are not used for colds. Don't forget that medicine now has a 60+-year history of using antibiotics, and has learned that the overuse of these meds can be just as dangerous as not using them when it's absolutely necessary to do so.
You're right about common sense, or rather, the overall lack of common sense, but please review your sources, and all sources, regarding immune systems. You're a bit off-base on that part.

Your body uses your own DNA as a template of recognition as to what to destroy. If your immune system comes across a cell, and it knows the "secret handshake" your immune system basically says "he's one of us, so lets not give him trouble"
The problem is this - viruses use OUR cells to reproduce - so they are wearing our DNA - in other words, they know the "secret handshake". And cancer cells ARE us - so I'm sure you can see why they go undetected so often until they cause some other trouble.
And while common sense is indeed rare, zealotry seems to be rather common.
