It is very hard.

I think the most important things in any relationships are that you have similar interest, but be generous enough to give each other a bit of space.

For instance ... my partner and i love walking, we read the same books, interested in photography and wildlife, and we both love gardening, these things we do together.
I like sewing and have a room that i call my own where i do sewing and other things, my partner is a computer programmer and sometimes brings work home, we both also play a lot of games on the computer together.
So you need someone to do things with but have a bit of space for yourselves without falling out .

Lay down your priorities and make sure they are met before going further with a marriage...

out what you might have in common. Now, there's stupid dating
services..if you want to try that route. Personally, I think it's
easier for guys to meet a girl, anywhere. Girls are more demure.
I guess it depends on how outgoing or shy you are. But let me
