I have a Singer Simple- and have changed the needle three times in the last three sewing sessions. I've tried adjusting the tension setting. Also, I'll sewing and then it will stop because the top string fell out of the eye of the needle. Also, sometimes when I'm done sewing and try to pull the clothing out- it's sort of stuck tight in the strings. The stiches look even- and it doesn't look like the bobbin is clogged. HELP!

We make quilts and have seven machines going sometimes. I have one singer that never stops, it's a good machine however, it's not a great machine. This problem is related to any one of several things. The first lady with the advise to go to a singer shop and get some advice is correct.

We could be here all day otherwise. Your tension may be off. the material to thin and the material is being pushed into the bobbin slot. Wal Mart material, the cheap $1.00 a yard special is not for sewing, it will do this. The needle is to blunt. We changed needles after every job, usually quite often according to what brand. the thread is catching in the tension spring. One thread is larger in diameter then the other. Clean and oil the machine. You see, I could keep going. The settings are not adjusted accordingly. It could be the thread, the material or both in relation to each other.
Sewing is rocket science, I found that out in a hurry.

adjust the tension,
be sure you have it threaded right
have the right weight thread
and the propper size needle for the fabric
and make sure the thread is not old....old thread beads or gums up.!
i know exactly what you are talking about.
check the bobbin too.

It's most likely the top tension or that the dang thread is getting caught on the top of the thread where that little slash is to cut the thread on the spool with...by hand, when hand sewing.
solve this by removing all paper from thread spool
Rethread the machine, less tension, and help the round thing on the left turn with your hand as you give the machine the gas..

it sounds like your needle is too small for your fabric, and you need brand new thread. Old thread sucks!
Make sure that none of the top parts are bent.
and have you oiled the machine since you last used it?

You could be using the wrong size needle. Make sure the needle is made for the fabric you are using. As fore the string falling out, I have that happen if I don't have enough thread pulled out to hold on to when I first start sewing.
