Don't be a slave to GHz., a Pentium M of a lower GHz rating can be better than a P4 Mobile.

If you;re looking at a futuristic laptop where it should support Windows Vista and other softwares or applications which needs a lotta processing and memory power, better get an Intel Core 2 Duo processor. P IV is a desktop processor and if used in a laptop gets heated up unless u have separate fans built in... well lets not get in to that cuz u cant get it done as they technology has advanced. Pentium M is basically a P IV designed for portable computers- it generates lesser heat and should have integrated wireless... Of course, Centrino is advanced technology than Pentium M. if I were u and if I can afford, i'd definitely go for a Core 2 Duo... Hope it helps....

Jimiyash speaks truth- the pentium iv mobile is better than Celeron, but it's an older processor. It's just the notebook/laptop version of the desktop Pentium 4 processor. It's fine for a computer that's a few years old, but for a new machine you'd want Core Duo or better.

The Intel Pentium IV mobile was supposedly built fwith a mobile/on the move user in mind but there has not been many good reports about it lately on its reliability and performance
So go with whatever other options you get instead for now until they fix all the bugs and faults.

pentium 4 mobile is not good because they don't have good battery life. i didn't even know they made them anymore. The best out right now is the intel core 2 duo and then after that the intel core duo. This processor is very fast, has good battery life, and integrated wireless networking. Before the core duo came out, the centrino was a very good laptop processor and had very good battery life.

I would say Intel Pentium 4 and IV are the same.
If this gets by me, then I must be weird or Wired.
Try going to www.intel.com and ask. heh. gl.

If you can get your hands on anything Maximum PC has put out, I'd highly recommend it. It's a magazine, but they publish books, as well.
http://www.maximumpc.com/
You can find the books on Amazon (but it looks like it's been awhile since they released any?!?!?): http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw/002-5475042-0786425?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=maximum+pc
http://www.newegg.com/ has good reviews (Amazon sometimes, too), but not for something like a processor...
