OK, so with enough money I could buy a great present for nearly anyone, but sometimes the perfect present is surprisingly inexpensive. I had a friend who was despairing that he couldn't convince his family that he'd be happy with a Hello Kitty Keyring. One year I remember the present I most liked was a bottle of scented nail polish. Another cherished present was a pair of nice warm socks that still keep my feet warm in bed!
I was touched when, last year, my cousin said that his present from me (a miniature medieval sword) was the best thing he'd received.
So what inexpensive Christmas presents have you loved most of all? Reassure us all that Christmas isn't just a time for spending all our money on some overpriced mass-produced piece of tat.

When I was in 5th grade, my (adopted) mom made me a doll. This wasn't just any doll, it was a little boy doll. And my little boy doll was anatomically correct (this was back in the early-mid 80's). When it was time to go back to school, all the kids brought something they got for Christmas for show and tell. So I took my little boy doll that I was so proud of. I was only allowed to take him on one condition, that his clothes stayed on. So I told one of the teachers that he was a very special doll, but he wasn't allowed to be naked at school. So the teacher (I guess she was curious or something), decided to take his clothes off to find out why he was so special. Luckily, she did it while we were outside at noon recess. But, not so luckily, she didn't like what she found, because she called and said something to Mom. And when we got home from school that day, my poor little boy lost his "boyness" and became just another doll.

I'd have to say a photo album makes a great cheap X-mas present. Probably going out of style though now that everything is digitized.

The super cheap DVDs that only cost a dollar, usually old movies, cartoons, stuff that they don't really enforce the copy right on anymore.
