Have you ever had that excited feeling , like when your on your way to a big event or a friends house and your blood gets pumping and you get jittery and ready to go?? Ive been getting that alot lately. Just a minute ago i was sitiing watching tv with my sister and had a sudden urge to stangle her for no reason at all. I jumped on her with all intention of killing her then backed off. I proceeded to grab a piece of wood and had almost a vision of myself hitting her bludgeoned bloody face over and over and over again. IM not a violent person and appear to be a vwry nice intellegent person but when these urges happen its like they take me over and then I snap out of it like a trance. I hope they dont continiue to escalate. Is there a known disorder for this problem?? How should I go about telling a doctor if Im admitted??

First thing you need to admit is that YES you are a violent person. A violent person is one who acts, thinks, or fantasizes about violent behavior; intending to kill your sister by strangulation or bludgeoning fits the category.

Secondly, impulsive urges can come from any number of different sources. Are the urges person specific or are they directed towards people in general (wanting to strangle and bludgeon people other than your sister could mean something else.) But, most likely, they are misdirected feelings of frustration that have been absorbed so deep within the person that they are expressing themselves extremely far removed from the incident of their origin. Because of this, most people have no idea why they are acting in this manner.

Hoping these episodes won't escalate is already placing the people around you, as well as yourself, in a dangerous position. There are medicines you can take that can 'dampen' your emotional responses, enough so that a decent therapist could begin to probe, with your help, the possible sources of these feelings. I do not know your situation, but many hospitals have psyche wards where one can go and be placed into protective custody so that one can be monitored during such episode. However, some hospital psyche-wards are not very good at long-term therapy; they exist for short-term episodes, but they might have a list of referrals for therapists in the area. I have listed a website below that can also help get you started, if the hospitals don't have such a list.

The important thing is to get help RIGHT NOW, before anything tragic happens. Feeling a little shame now at telling a therapist is a hellava lot better than being alot remorseful in prison later on.

There's something called intermittent explosive disorder, but many experts question its validity. The differential diagnosis is quite complicated and when it comes down to it, few people are actually diagnosable because their symptoms are better explained by another medical or psychiatric syndrome: seizures, neurological damage, intoxication, a manic episode, possibly some kind of psychotic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (if the impulses are not acted on, that is), borderline personality disorder, and in many cases antisocial personality disorder.

Yeah sounds like you have a slight case of insanity... verging on the same line as people who get a thrill out of killing and hurting people. The only thing stopping you is your conscious... without that you would probably go ape **** and end of like all the other crazy's on death row. Get some psychological help before you get one of those urges when your really stressed out or drugged up... etc.. something that will prevent your conscious from saying "no".
