The logical answer to this question is going to be "no"...since what you don't know supposedly can't hurt you.

However, on a different level, I have to disagree with that.

There's this instinct that most of us have, I call it a "bad vibe radar"...that can kick in at any given moment regardless of whether or not you're in listening range of the "someone" in question. You may not know what's being said about you verbatim, but you can feel it. It can come to you with a nonverbal signal from someone else...a look, someone subtly brushing you off or ignoring you, the tone in someone's voice. Or even when they're not around, you get that weird impulse that leads to your ears burning. In some cases, it can be anxiety getting the best of you. But my instincts about others is strong, to the point where I feel like I have mild ESP.

So yes, it can affect you, even if you don't know what's being said. You don't know how or why you know, but you know.

That's an oxymoron. How can one think without being proactive, unless you're talking about mental telepathy, then that's different. An example is the umbilical bond between parent and offspring; ever see a newborn smile at you, I swear they know what you're thinking. Actually quite interesting if you think about it in a different perspective. Good question.

Yes, I happen to be a mind reader and I can tell...It is helpful but at times can be a curse...especially when I know they're making fun of the way i dress...I don't care if it was last season's thing...i still like it and I'm still going to wear it.

Only if you let them,

But, their body language can give away their thoughts,

They don't even need to speak sometimes.

nah, I don't think so.
I remember hearing "what some one thinks of you, is none of your business"
its kind of a true thing but still bothersome.
