The lava flew up and melted the Southern tip of Malaysia and formed Singapura. Smaller streams of lava called lavaes melted some parts of Singapura and formed Pulau Ubin.
And then and Indian Prince arrived miraculously in a sampan and spotted a lion on the puny little island and named the island after the maned beast conveniently.
Decades later an angmo landed on the island and claimed the island his because fighting for Malacca and the Javanese ports are far more tedious. He found out that the east of the island was first to met the lava from the volcanic explosion and named it Kakakakakatong. The locals later renamed it Katong and now properties in that area are among the most expensive on the island, even though the buildings are corroding away by the seabreeze...

Krakatoa never have been the biggest Volcano of the world. When it explodes, only a local part has been submitted to volcano power, toxic gases, hot lava river and fall of lava rocks. Only a few part of population died.(with less damages than the Vesuvius at 39 DC)
In Italy, the Volcano Santorino blew up, and have provoked a nuclear winter all over the Earth, eliminating a big quantity of animal species that disappear. Actually, Santorino is a big, big basin in the middle of the Mediterranean sea.

If it happens now, there'll be tsunami, swept away Singapore and entire island. Can you imagine that? I heard that volcano is still active. Hope it didnt happen.
Krakatoa volcano lies in the Sunda strait between the islands of Java and Sumatra. In about 416 A.D., caldera collapse destroyed the volcano and formed a 4-mile wide caldera. The islands of Krakatoa, Verlaten, and Lang are remnants of this volcano. The eruption and collapse of the caldera in 1883 produced one of the largest explosions on Earth and destroyed much of Krakatoa island, leaving only a remnant. Since 1927, small eruptions have been frequent and have constructed a new island, Anak Krakatoa (Child of Krakatoa)
