Those God- and Christian-bashing people seem ignorant and arrogant to me too, but underneath I think they're just terribly insecure, and rootless, and directionless. They are nothing more than spiritual flotsam, and deep inside they must know it. I think that's mostly why they try to insult religious people. It makes me feel very sad for them. (I know you didn't specifically mention Christians, but that's who the vast majority of anti-God rhetoric on this site is aimed at.)

When they are open minded, I don't think that's a sign of intelligence really but maturity and respect for other opinions. I believe I'm intelligent for my age at least, but I know there are others smarter than me, and those who don't know as much, but that's cuz we all come from different backgrounds, and no one is actually smater or more intelligent than the other. It's just a difference of experience.
people tend to be close minded when they are defensive or feel intensely sensitve about a particular issue.

The reason why religion is so difficult to completely accept is because the premise is based on faith. The "faith" principle appears to be the antithesis of logical thinking. It isn't that religious belief is not possible but using logical principles it is not probable. It is not my intention to be ignorant or arrogant but to find the truth. It appears there is lacking evidence, based on Aristotles idea of logic, that "God" the way most religions defines "God", can be concretely proven. It is more likely, however, we have limited information to this idea of "God" and therefore can not make an appropriate conclusion of what he/she/it is.

well, basically there are people who are using religion as an excuse, when they like it, it is okay. but when they dont like it, it is religion that does not allow.
For me being a student in Tibetan Buddhism (the one Richard Gere in) I felt that, we should always think both ways, rather than being all the time me me me and I I I.
I stop using religion for an excuses,

i don't understand in regards to the close minded area, however the opportunities are infinite.. choose an analogy? obama...might've kicked michelle to the shrink, have been it no longer for the reality that it replaced into her who needed to be interior the white residing house the 1st place, that close minded ness you're bearing on is noted as concentration...on the prize.

Religion know all the hooks. They lure them in with a promise that you get a second chance to live your life, providing that you put something in the collection basket.

You're wrong. Having an open mind is a sign of stupidity, if it means opening it to evil or liberal bull crap.
Are you trying to tell us that YOU have an open mind to sensible, conservative values? I didn't think so, and this shows your blatant hypocrisy.
