DNA is the abbreviation for DeoxyriboNucleic Acid

DNA is found in the nucleus, and it behaves as an acid in solution, so it is a nucleic acid. The sugar in DNA is 2'-deoxyribose, so the molecule is called deoxyribonucleic acid.

DNA is a long polymer composed of subunits called nucleotides. Two strands of opposite polarity wind around each each other to form a double helix.

A nucleotide subunit in DNA is made up of a five-carbon sugar called deoxyribose, a nitrogenous base and a phosphate.

The bases in DNA are adenine, guanine, cytosine and thymine, abbreviated A, G, C and T

The bases in DNA are of two types: Purines and Pyrimidines.
Purines (adenine and guanine) have a two-ring structure, while
Pyrimidines (cytosine and thymine) have a single ring.
