Yip he has made mistakes but so has everyone one of us. To answer your question, if Shane Warne was my son I would have been very brought of him.

Yes.

Your son should have may role models, each providing something to learn from.

Obviously as a person, you could get better role models

But in terms of a cricketer to follow, Warne is a great example to follow.

Brought back the art of Leg spin, one of the most successful bowlers of all time, always in the game, never lets the batsman off, and no matter what happened off the field, he always performed on the field.

your son should follow that example of warne, and hopefully not the other.

Earl Woods taught his son, Tiger, not only to be a great golfer, but an even better human being. This is where you come in to make sure your son grows into a respectable man, on and off the field.

The problem with role models is they are human, just like the rest of us, they have good qualities, and bad qualities. You have to pick out the good.

I think the whole world is over-obsessed with being voyeristic towards celbrities. They are human beings as well. We should leave them all alone and just concentrate on their cricket or whatever they do.
If we gave them some privacy and the media didn't take phots through bushes and the like, we wouldn't know half the stuff they get up to, and that is the way it should be. If that was the case, Shane Warne's profile would look like this:

SK Warne. Awesome cricketer, legend, best bowler of the late20th/early 21st century, certain hall of famer, and yes, role model for young sportsmen. 700 wickets, 3000 runs, full stop.

Well Viv Richards the Master Blaster said he used ganja. No one can say he and Botham as room mates in England during the 70s and 80s were not .... let us say womanizers.

Was Viv Richards a good role model? Well though I do not approve of marijuana use I must say that not everyone has my moral position and many people will probably not approve of everything I have done in my life.

So who am I to say? I certainly enjoyed watching him bat or listening to the West Indies play when Clive Lloyd was the Skipper, he was absolutely entertaining.

He may be an inspiration and a great cricketer but the point is no he isnt a good rolemodel for children.

If you call doing what he's done being a good role model somthing isnt right.

He should still be respected as a heroe for his cricketing achievments none the less

No. He is not a good role model. Cricket is still a geltlemen's game for us. Though people like Warne do well with their skills, what we look for is good sportsman's spirit, exemplary behaviour both on and off field.

Warne definitely does not qualify for it.
