So many people ask the big question. It's simple we live to justify our living. We live to procreate and give something back to the earth. We complete a cycle. Without death there is no cycle. Enjoy your turn. When your matter decomposes it'll be absorbed and used to satifiy anothers living. Exsistnace is oposite of nothing.
Why look for a reason when you can make one? You have a freedom in living take advantage. We are as disposible as our blood but, we know to appriciate it for it's momentary exsistance.
How can you value a constant variable that you know is forever. Animals have a pack humans have a society. All justifies the rules of circumstane. If things are to be moving than things will always have to adjust and change. And with adaption comes sacrifice.

Nothing to do but die? What about the time between now and then? What if there is more? What then?
Life is what you decide it is. It will be what you want it to be. There are situations out of our control but there is good to be made of all situations. There is all the gloom and doom you can possibly want to see or hear if that's what you want.
I believe that life is precious because it's a gift and a chance at another, far better life.
Some scientists have said that all matter is made of energy and nothing. Use your energy to do positive things to create an enjoyable life for yourself...even for others. The Bible says that we've all been given a "measure" of faith. Use that faith to believe in the one who created everything there is. Make that conscious decision to believe. Trusting in Him makes that "measure" to grow. Diligently seeking God through Jesus Christ guarantees a reward from Him. He is love and joy and light.
If you trust in God through Jesus Christ and there is more than nothing after you die, you've gained eternity. If there's nothing after you die, you've lost nothing. If you don't believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and there is something after you die, you've lost everything.
Life is what you make of it.

This is an awesome question, and I think there is a good answer.
It is the very fragile nature of life and happiness that make it precious. If everyone was guaranteed the exact same length of life, we would take it for granted even more than we do. I still think about a friend of mine from high school that died 10 years ago. It reminds me to live and make use of every day.
If we always got everything we wanted, it would not make us happy, we would just take it for granted. I was really sick last week, now I'm so happy I'm feeling fine. It is the lonely times that make you value that one friend.

We all need to enjoy the short time we are given-whether on a old age deathbed or being taken at a young age it comes quick for memory is only memory. The physical world that enables us to enjoy a nice meal, bask at the seashore is the same world that requires us to perish. If value has to be placed on the outcome of the universe then there would be no sense in beginning. We are human so let us be human. Its great to enjoy the fruits and beauty, fun to ponder the unknown, but not dwell on it.Chances are in order to understand all truths would require you to no longer be human,so no sense in dwelling. Most likely the universe repeats form, yet is gleaned by us as incomprehending witnesses.

Macabre much? Maybe if you stop looking at all the gloomy and depressing things in life and lighten up, maybe then you'd see why life is so precious and amazing. Kinda feel sorry for you actually...you're one chance at living and you are already thinking about death. You'll have the rest of eternity for that honey! Just enjoy it!

We come to create our own world. A giant canvas.
We've all built sand-castles as kids. We still do it in some sense even after growing up, don't we.
Paint the canvas with your own color -- go on -- you've got lot's of time.
Will it be a terrible red, a sad blue, a happy green, or a royal purple? ;)
If you've realized how fickle all this is -- go paint it with your own color! You might as well have fun, right? ;)

your life if precious up until you have a child. then you have done your duty toward you fellow mans evolution we create societies to help pass the time between these events.but the reason we would have nothing in the end is because we tried to break the cycle of natural selection.

Well, what religion do you adhere to?
If you ask that question to a holy man, you'll get a long dissertation about our purpose.
I say live life to the fullest as only you can. If you have a significant other, share the experience with them.
Hey at least you're not mentally handicapped like Bamma here.

That's a pretty macabre way of looking at things. YOu really could reverse the statement and say there is nothing to do on earth but live.

well, i think life is precious, because we have the time to do different things before we do die. and no one really does know what is going to happen to us in the end, so like i say, you should enjoy it before the time is up. that's a pretty pestimistic way of viewing life. you should view it like it's your last day.
