Hopefully they wouldn't question.....so there would be no need to answer it

My husband volunteered to be Santa three years in a row and was turned down each time. There are racist people out there. He is really disappointed in Americans.

I guess a black man can't be Santa. My kids wouldn't question because they see no color. They know we are all the same. They also know Santa has helpers who work in the malls. They are just giant elves.

It just a mall Santa, the real Santa lives at the north pole and I never meet him. He may be black or white.

And I have used similar explanations when my kids saw 2 Santa's at once and one smoking a cigarette.

Ive already delt with this. And because in most pictures and things santa is depicted as ...white..the kids wanted to know, mom is that the real santa?
I simply said, santa can look like anyone at any time because that is how he hides from you and how he knows what you want for christmas. No one truely knows what santa really looks like. And that is also why he looks like daddy, uncle joe and grampa sometimes. lol
Yup, the jolly ole guy is tricky that way.Now stop asking questions or he will repo your toys...lol j/k

I remember as a kid, in a shopping centre there was an aboriginal Santa. I wouldn't sit on his lap- not because of his colour, but he was wearing grey rubber boots with paint on. To me Santa wore black boots, so I didn't believe he was the real Santa. I don't think most kids would even notice if Santa was black- there's not alot of his skin showing

Santa must be really magic to turn his skin brown. Wow! Can you believe that. That's so cool! What do ya think Skylar? ;-)
Typically, yes Santa is a white man. But when we are discussing myths...such as this...(Santa I mean) we're technically liars anyway. So just work it! My daughter only has probably one more year anyway to be worked. So, it might be a really cool thing to happen. She loves make believe.
And Yes Kids do ask the darndest things, especially MY 7 year old. She also knows that Jesus was the reason we celebrate Christ-mas and it was His birth into this world, not that it was Santa Day, or Frosty Day. BUT...CHRIST-mas day!

Personally, I really don't think that any child would question the color of Santa's skin. It's adults who teach kids to take notice of these things and question them.
If the kids don't ask, why approach this subject...?

I would just tell them that he was Santas brother..I already had to tell them that it wasn't the real Santa at every mall..they caught on to that one. So i told them they were Santas' family and helpers.

Santa went to the tanning salon upstairs.

If you wanna see a black santa, go to NYC. I go every year with my friends and every year, we see quite a few black santas.

That the black santa is just as good as a brown or white one.

i don't see why santa has to be white, but i guess he always is in pictures and stuff, so maybe someone left a fire in the fireplace when he slid down the chimny. since i don't think santa can die, then he should be able to walk around with 3rd degree burns over his entire body.
