I think it was Native American tribes. It was called a 'potlatch'. But what the hell - what else is manned space flight?

The Chinese burn paper models of expensive things like Mercedes Benz cars, houses, etc, as well as special paper money called "hell bank notes", at the Hungry Ghost festival, and also at funerals i think.
