He says it is not just minor glandular hypospadias, but a major and critical one.He says, first the hoodlum at the end of the penis has to be corrected in the first session of the operation. and after three months, a partial circumcition has to be done, so as to make a tube to connect the half-grown urethral tube to the tip of the penis so as to make it easy for the child to answer the nature's call. tell me if it absolutely necessary to go for two sessions. or should i consult anyother doctor who will tell me exactly what it is and whether my child will feel the pain. plz guide me. this is my second query regarding this.

My 6 mth old just had his first stage surgery last week. Histube isn't even in his penis....it stops at the top of the scrotum....this caused a condition call Chordee (bending of the penis). Most docs will try to do everything in one surgery, but it can't always be done. Because of the severity of my son's cond. they could only do the Chordee repair this time....he will have to have at least one more and maybe as many as 4 total......he had pain after the procedure for a few days, but nothing a little Tylenol couldn't help. He was rolling over the next day. Babies are stronger then you realize. if you want to talk more, look me up.

The two sessions are necessary because the outcome of the second depends on the healing of the first procedure. I expect that your son will be under anesthesia for these procedures, but you should definitely speak with the doctor about this. Your son will experience some pain after both procedures, so it's important that the doctor prescribe adequate pain control and give you and your son all the proper instructions for after-care at home. There is no way that a certain amount of pain does not happen after any surgical procedure. It can be regulated though. If you feel that the urologist did not give you full and complete information, go back to him and tell him your concerns. When people go to any doctor they should take along a list of questions and not think the doctor will just automatically know what a person's particular concerns are.

I believe what the doctor told you is quite reasonable, but if you would like a second opinion, make an app't with another urologist . I'm sure there will be some discomfort for your child. Talk to the doc and ask how this will be managed. It is important to do this repair while the child is very young. I can think of no reason for the doctor to do a two step procedure unless it is necessary, but ask him and get a second opinion if you like.

if you are uneasy about your doctors advice. Seek another doctors opinion. Its that simple. Get a second opinion or third even, if it makes you feel better about the procedure. Then do what you feel in your gut.
