We most certainly do!
Our cuisine includes many food concepts that we have gotten from other cultures, but they have all pretty much been Americanized. Italians, for example, would think it was very strange that we regularly put meat in our spaghetti sauce, and I think that hamburgers are pretty much an American phenomenon even though they have a German name. I live in a part of the United States where people eat "Mexican" food regularly, but it's quite different from the food I ate when I actually went to Mexico. American Japanese food is much sweeter than Japanese food in Japan. And so forth. And other styles of cooking exist in the U.S. that don't exist anywhere else: barbeque, dutch oven cooking, and cajun cuisine, just to name a few. "American" food is all of these things.

Where did you get the idea that America does not have American food? It's about more than just apple pie and Boston baked beans...
Of course, America is a very large country. Many of the signature dishes are more strongly associated with individual regions than the country overall. The southwest is associated with certain foods, the northwest others, and the south a whole bunch of others.
