This has always been a big dream of mine. My dad is very broad-minded and I am sure he will agree, but my mom is very very narrow minded. She has a very pessimistic view of life and thinks that the entertainment industry is nothing but a farce and nobody makes any name in there except for sons of actors and film directors. She wants me to take engeneering and become a computer engineer. I dont even have the courage to go to her and tell her what I want to do. I am just in the 8th standard, what do I do?

Pick up the Book "rebel without a Crew" by Robert Rodriguez.

It's the story of how he directed El Mariachi and went on from there.

Basically-
Watch Film ALL the time. If you want to Direct, you need to study. That was Quentin Tarantino's thing. He worked in a Video store for almost 8 years and is a veritable film encyclopedia.

Next aim for a college or university that has programs that will help you pursue those avenues- Photography, Acting, A/V etc.
When not in school, pursue jobs at lower levels in the area you want to work. Find out how to be A Production Assistant on local films shooting in your area- the best schooling is on the Job training.

Working for free for awhile is a great way to show you are commited and serious about this being your craft.

It is a long, difficult and almost impossible road to follow all the way to employment. The good thing is, you have your own map there that will take you as far as you have the ambition for.

So are you ambitious?
Go hit the bookshop or library. Get some basic directing books and biographies of directors and get to reading!

Good question! There are many things you can do.

First, keep in mind as we learn new things in school and life, our ideas and dreams can change, become more clear, or become stronger. Today you may want to be a film director, and tomorrow you might want to be an actor in the film or the writer who writes the film. And some people can be all these and more.

So what do you do with parents who want you to do something different? The good thing is the choice will always be yours. As you go to school, do the best you can, learn as much as you can to expand your mind to as much as possible. Take a class or two in drama if it is offered so you can learn to act to help you understand that side of the industry. Read books so you get a feel for how writers convey stories. Enroll in film study classes if offered to learn how to make your own school movies. Volunteer to help at local public access TV stations to learn how to produce shows. As you learn, you will grow, and you will meet many helpful people who share your interests who can help you learn the ropes. From teachers to fellow students, to what you'll learn in the books you will have gone far. By the time you graduate high school you will know if this is your path and if it is, there are colleges where you can take this to the next level. You will always encounter people along the way who don't think you can do something, but if you really want to do it you will and you will make your own path to the stars. Your folks will get behind you 110% when they realize this is what you want. Your mom just wants the best for you as careers in engineering are great careers for those who pursue them. But everyone is different so you need to make your own path in life going where your special gifts and interests take you.

Best wishes!

Remember that it's your life your living. She has lived hers and even though she does have the right to disagree with you she has no right to stop you from chasing your dream. I was in the exact same situation years ago when I wanted to become a painter, but under pressure from my mother I went into medical school. I was so miserable that I hated myself and everyone around me. You're not in an easy situation, but you have the benefit of being able to make your own decisions and your future is still ahead of you. There will be very painful times ahead between you and your mother if you decide ot defy her, but there will be a lifetime of misery if you don't chase your dreams, and always wonder if you could have succeeded. Besides, even if you do fail in the theater, you can still go to school for something else after-wards.

Do what you want to do, not what people tell you to do. Follow your dreams and heck, along the way, you may find something else that interests you. I look at myself for example--I had a huge interest in law and politics and after 8 years of studying them, I found that I am more interested in the entertainment side of law, like contracts and negotiations, not the political side. If you want to be a director, then be a director, study hard, and don't give up if you fail a couple times. If it is what you really want to do, then stick with it.

definite! for sure! i have loved all the Harry Potter videos, usually for his or her suspense and actually scary mood. besides the indisputable fact that, this one seems to intensify all the topics occurring interior characters and the creepy nature of the overall topic. The others were large, the first couple for only an person-friendly watch with youthful little ones, yet this one will actual entice a extra mature crowd. =)

You overcome those adversities and obstacles. No great man ever got to where he was by avoiding obstacles. You have to face them head on and defeat them.
