all sugars are edible from raw to processed. Table sugar (sucrose) comes from plant sources. They just have different functions and characteristics.
SIMPLE CARBOHYDRATES
Simple carbohydrates are quick energy sources, but they do not usually supply any other nutrients or fiber.
Miniglossary of kCaloric Sweeteners
Sucrose: commonly known as table sugar, beet sugar, or cane sugar. Sucrose occurs in many fruits and some vegetables.
Fructose: known as fruit sugar. Most plants contain fructose, especially fruits and saps.
Glucose: sometimes known as blood sugar, sometimes as grape sugar. Nearly all plant foods contain glucose.
Maltose: known as malt sugar. Found in grains.
Lactose: commonly known as milk sugar. It is the principal carbohydrate found in milk.
COMPLEX CARBOHYDRATE:
Starch - bread, cereal, potatoes, pasta, rice, and legumes (dried peas and beans)
Fiber - bran, whole-grain foods, raw vegetables and fruit (especially the seeds and skins), legumes, nuts, seeds and popcorn
So, all of them are edible.. Yummy..
Hope this helps..

sucrose, glucose, fructose are all edible. As I understand it the human can not break down fructose or cellulose to burn as a food. Where as sucrose is broken down by the human to 2 carbon units and utilized for energy. As an aside, the liver makes all the sugar the human body needs to function. Eating sugar may overtax the insulin producing cells to exhaustion and viola!! diabetes.

Edible items can be good because you have a higher chance of at least some of the guests enjoying it and making use of it. On the other hand, I kind of don't get the edible favors because you are already feeding everyone. And a little tub of sugared almonds seems kind of meager...most people spend more on the box/container than on the food inside. But keepsakes, of course, will probably be junk most people wouldn't want, unless you can afford to spend a ton of money on favors. I think a small bottle of wine with a personal label is nice. In the end, I hope to think of something as great as my friend is for her wedding this year. She is an artist and is making prints of one of her pieces. This painting will be "retired" from her regular collection. She is going to mat and frame the prints and give one out to each couple. It's personal, it's different, it's meaningful. I love her idea.

In the superstore, fruits are usually selected far too soon. Some are rocks, many are bitter. Some of the fruit and vegetables are generally right (zucchini, onions, garlic, lettuce, greens, and a few others) so I'd have to go with vegetables.

Of course they're edible! They're more complex, takes more processing for your body to use...
