I will be wearing jeans with tops,sweater and jerkin. Is this sufficient or shouls i wear inner thermal wear? I would like someone who's been there often and who's been living in India to answer my question....thanks...

It may not be that cold out there but safe if you have them!

I know its a very old post however this might be useful for googlers :)

Its always advisable to carry a pair of thermals when visiting places that can go into single digit temperatures.
In cold places you get warmth based on what is called as layered clothing.

Wearing thermals can give you greater flexibility as the need to have multiple layers of fleece and jackets is reduced.

Thermals are light weight and one set of thermals can mean reduction of may be 1-2 heavier fleece jackets/ pullovers


Having said that dont just go to such places with only thermals in your luggage :)
