My father in law sent a visa gift card and cashiers check to us for Christmas, it was in a Christmas card and he sent it out USPS ( he didnt know to send it priority or with signature confirmation). It was sent out on Dec. 6th and still hasn't shown up. I know if it was lost or stolen he can lodge a complaint with the USPS. To get a re issued cashiers check he has to wait 90 days for a new one.... so my question is.... Should we tell him to cancel the check in case it was stolen? Or wait it out with the slim chance that it just has taken a really really long time to arrive? Have you had first class mail take this long to arrive? I think it coulda been stolen because it was almost $300 worth of gift cards and checks, do you think I am right to think this? (We live in Texas, he lives in Pennsylvania)

And please don't tell me how he shoulda sent it out or with what company... he never sends much through the mail so he didn't know.... and what's done is done.

oh, and I know it was addressed properly because we called and asked them what our address was and they read off what they had... it was correct.

I am a seller on ebay and sending it priority vs. first class does not make a difference in time. IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN THERE BY NOW. Tell him to cancel it and he should cut his losses. Check to see if anything has been used or cashed. good luck and have a merry Christmas!

Cancel it, sounds like it could have been stolen; maybe from the post office//if it's too late..then he'll know next time to send it with a signature confirmation. Sorry.

Did he send it in a red or green envelope? For some reason (my Mother-in-Law told me about this) there's a special way that red and green envelopes are handled by the USPS so it takes longer to mail. Did your Dad send it 3rd or 4th class and that's why it's taking forever to receive?

USPS has a tracking system. Ask them to track it and if they say its been delivered then you know it was stolen. Check with them.
