i'm 28 yrs .old now and when i was in school i was in speacial ed. i have delexia, it's a learning disability. i've always been a slow learner and unable to understand what i read at times. i have trouble telling time, counting coins and big dollar bills + math solving. it's very hard for me to find a job since all jobs require to handle cash. when i was in school my brother or mom use to do my math. i got my high school diploma, u wonder how i got it if i was unable to pass math, well a teacher felt sorry for me and stated that i passed after taking the test 4 times or more and still not passing, so she did me a huge favor, but i still can't get around and that sucks. how can i improve myself? when i use to be a drug user i did not have much trouble in counting the coins. i had no fear of nothing that i use to work at the movies as a cashier and did just fine, now that i'm sober i fear and can't do it. what's a matter w/ me besides drugs frying my brain.. tell me something i don't kno

i dont think you rely on drugs for your dyslexia...... better be sober all the time....

It really can get to you sometimes, I know the feeling.
I have Asperger's Syndrome and, despite being a semester away from having an MBA and a 3.8 GPA, can not seem to get a permanent job outside retail (although, oddly enough, often get great and high paying freelance IT and video/music production jobs from time to time).
Having Asperger's means my body is almost constantly tense and, while it doesn't hurt my skills, I've learned people don't hire people they think are not cool on permanent basis.
Far as math block, I know what you mean my girlfriend has a similar math block but she does much better when she is not aware she is doing something challenging to her (I figure this is why drugs helped you...you lost self-awareness and that killed you self-doubt so you could focus the energy on counting well rather than getting nervous).
But, honestly, exercise is my medicine it knocks the stress out of me and does the same for my girlfriend: it releases the same feel good, calm down hormones and makes you much more confident to the point people stop staring at you and you can do whatever job you need to MUCH more easily.
Far as math, your attention span may be getting in the way also. I almost failed algebra is high-school, but then picked up computer programming (where I can, for example, move graphics by manipulating equations)...once my attention was on making the block move, not remembering the complexity of equations, making the equations came naturally and, when I wanted to make my graphics/video-games move faster, I taught myself factoring and simplification (to make equations run faster). You just have to get a method of learning interesting and free-form enough so you forget you are doing math.

Far as the reading problem, I wish I could give more empathetic advice but, honestly, I have no clue what is does (or could) feel like to read with dyslexia and can only guess the order of numbers/words would keep swapping order and would thus HAVE to be managed visually (IE by making a visual copy in one's own mind of the order, continually re-reading what's on the paper and building the image until you can look at it in your head with eyes closed).

Again I imagine some hobbies like programming or music, where you define the symbols/notes and there are often not that many combinations, would do wonders to build your math skills and perhaps allow you to creatively and visually reorganize reading and get by any attention deficits you may have.

Best luck, I know dealing with such issues can seem like crawling to the moon sometimes...
