I wear lashes daily. They last all day. Until I take them off. I use Ardell brand eye lashes which you can get at any drug store, sally's or ulta. I use Shu Uemura glue and when I'm in a more dramatic mood I use shu uemura brand individual bottom lashes. That brand is great because they have such a wonderful choice of style and color. AND!! They even have a thick full set that you can cut and shape how you want, but they are all a bit pricey. If you are just starting out, I suggest buy cheap ones until you have figured out the best way to apply them. Wet n wild has a pair for about 2 bucks.

yuck to the person who said where them on the lower lashes. I don't wear them but I read alot of fashion magazines. individuals are supposedly easier and more natural. you just put a drop of the gule on the back of your hand and use tweezers and dip in glue and stick .all the magazines rave about the shu uemura kind from sephora. the glue is supposed to be good too. It also says you can buy the strips then cut them so you have just 3 lashes to each piece and it's the same as buying the individuals. I've been wanting to try it but haven't had a reason big enough to use them yet. It's a common thing now because they're made to look natural and they're easy!

I'll tell you the tips I know...
Break up the false lashes and focus them on your outer eyelids... that way they look more realistic... like not necessarily natural, but not like you have a caterpillar plastered on your eyelids. I've heard they're difficult to apply by yourself, so maybe enlist a friend to help you out. Always "seal" them with mascara- put a coat on after you're done applying them so they blend well with your natural lashes and look even thicker.
As for types, I've seen some on sephora.com, and they also have these lash gem things you can buy to make your eyes all glittery, I forget what brand, but lots of their brands do carry false eyelashes and things like that. Black is a good to make any eye color stand out, and depending on your outfit you could also buy some glittery fun ones or even fur-type ones.

I would definitely suggest using individual lashes instead of the full lash line. They look much more natural and are a lot easier to apply. I buy mine from Victoria's Secret - they're only $12 for a huge supply of short, medium, and long lashes, and the adhesive is included.

I copied their application tips - they're pretty standard for any type of individual lashes :::
Grasp lash tip with tweezers at the base and apply a small amount of adhesive to base tip end. Lay lash extension on top of curled and mascara-defined lashes. Continue to fill in and layer. Allow to dry, then gently add another coat of mascara to set extensions.

Wear them on your lower lashes, like we did in the 60's.
And a wide black line on the upper lid.
