I was married for 14 years and have been divorced for a year. I was always the primary parent. I never missed a dr's, dentist, school function, meeting, sports event and my children and I did everything together. In 2004 I was sent to prison for a white collar crime (money). My children were very attached to me and I am ashamed of what I did wrong. While I was gone my husband divorced me and is now married to another woman that wants to sever my parental rights. She is horrible. My ex husband is letting her handle everything even the raising of my children. Because I was in prison and couldn't be in court he got full custody of the kids and now we are in a huge custody battle in family court. They have turned my 14 year old daughter against me. My 11 year old son wants to see me and be with me. This is torture for him. My husband loved me totally and unconditionally before I went to prison. Until he met this woman he agreed on paper that we would have joint custody. ???????

You have every right to see your children. And it doesnt seem like the environment they are in now is healthy if they are turning YOUR children against you. That woman has no right to do that. And if your ex agreed on paper that you and him would have joint custody that is still legally binding. Yes you may have done some wrong in your life and you served your debts to society, that shouldnt be held against you now.....obviously you never put your children in danger and any child shouldnt have to grow up without their mother. I think you need to find a way to get a good lawyer and make sure you get what you are at least owed.....your children and the right to be able to raise them. This new woman didnt spend the 9 months in the womb with these children nor did she go through the hours of labor to bring them into this world.....she has no right to try to take away the years you have left with them before they go out to the world on their own. I wish you all the best and I will pray that you get your children. Happy Holidays

Get a good lawyer. It sounds like it is going to be a tough battle be strong.
I went through almost the same thing (drug addicit) and my ex tryed to take my son away from me even though we had joint custody. It got ugly between us but my son who is 6 I took him to a counselor and it help him understand better what was going on.
Your children need you be strong and good luck!!!

Unfortunately the courts will ultimately decide who gets custody. You have payed your debt to society, now you have to work to get back your children. You may not get them in a legal sense ,but do the best you can to stay in their lives. You will always be their mother,it may take them time to realize this, Good Luck!

First of all you need get some therapy with your son and your daughter. You need to get to a point that they know you again. Then you and your ex need to talk like adults without his wife if she a source of a problem. But you need to also understand that in you absence the wife was there doing what you were not available to do. How long were you gone anyway? you may need to go slow with your daughter. The wife needs to be the bigger woman and talk to her husband

Get a good lawyer, get your life back together with your daughter somehow.
Request for her to spend time with you, take her out to the mall, movies, skating anything she likes to do, get that relationship back somehow.
Good luck and you are in my prayers.
