Some scientists think that it does, and this is called the open model. Some scientists thin that the universe loops back on itself in the 4th dimension and that is called the closed model.

Given that the Universe is only about 13.5 billion years old, and that nothing can move faster than light, we know for SURE that the material universe can be no larger than 27 billion light years across. That is an "absolute maximum" size.

However, because it is curved (like a basketball) it doesn't exactly have an "edge."

Some scientists theorize that the universe is doing one of two things: expanding, or contracting. However, like one of the answers said, the maximum it could be would be twice its age (in light years across). But who knows for sure?

It is an interesting question. To my study, universe has volume but unbounded. It is difficult to imaging, right?
Like our earth, its shape is sphere. So, it has finite surface but when we start from one point and continously go on, we will reach to same point again, never ending. So, our earth surface is unbounded!
Remember, our earth has 2 dimensions surface.
But, universe is multi-dimension curved space.
So, we start from here and continously go on, finally we will reach to same point, never ending!
As universe is expanding, the size becomes bigger and bigger.
May be one day, universe will stop expanding and start to collapse and contract and finally reach to one singular point!
So, there is no specific size for universe.
But, universe has volume but unbonded!

Dude, something like 4 different people asked essentially the same question in the last 48 hours. Check the archives.

Well, it could go on & on, but chances are, it's like a circle, you trace a circly, you always get back to the point you started...so in a way, yes, it would never end.

The astronomers are opting for unbounded of late, I believe.
