We the people are responsible to whats happened to the country. We're the ones who voted in the incompetent officials repeatly. We're also the ones that just keep voting in the same incompetence over and over again. Sure we want a change but by the way we vote we sure as hell dont look like we do. The country showed how good it can be when 9/11 happened. The spirit the country had everyone helping one another and caring. Only problem with america is it takes a national catastophy to make us show our humanity and what once made this country as great as it was. If i remember last time i checked we had a 30% literacy rate only reason i'm throwing that out is our President Bush had two educational programs Head Start then No child left behind... seems like someone is losing ground here wouldnt you say. For a country who so heavily campaigns on education to have a 30% literacy rate is shameful.

The best leader the United States has ever had in the past century, was Franklin D. Roosevelt. The leader which stood up to Stalin and saw his intensions. The United States is still the most technically advanced, most powerful nation in the world and will always be, but if only we had a president such as FDR again. I can't believe so many people dislike president Bush now, I for one, like Bush, but I hate(with a passion) Bill and Hilary Clinton. Bill Clinton was a far worse president than Bush, far-worse. I consider gum on my shoe more of value than Bill Clinton. And I want Hilary Clinton to run for president just so I could see her get humiliated badly. Oh, that'd be awesome.

I'll tell you. Beginning in the seventies the congress began to sell this country to the rest of the world by letting all our jobs just float away. A country w/o manufacturing isn't a country to be reckoned with. What do you think made us a formidable world power? Manufacturing. Both parties took bribe, legal and illegal to let all our jobs go to other countries. Now, we, the American citizens, are paying the price. Probably the biggest sell outs in terms of value in world history. Enjoy.

Well let's see. WWI we tried diplomatic solutions until our civilian boats became targets, then we entered the war. WWII we were on the edge of entering for the same reason as WWI then came Pearl Harbor. Spanish American war? Pancho Villa killing civilians and the Spanish sinking one of our ships while it was in the harbor. See a pattern here? Those who attack us die!
Then in quick succession we had Korea, a UN police action. Vietnam - how the h*ll do you get people to fight for democracy in their land when they've never expirienced it? Why do we support someone and then assinate them because they don't do things our way in their country? Why don't we support our own guys better? Why do we let the rich excuse themselves from the war, with deferments for education, etc. but the poor come home in boxes?
Several small islands we invaded, we supported Pinochet and his right wing death squads, the Contra's and their right wing death squads, the Shah of Iran and his death squads, the Saudies, etc, etc.
We've gone from a nation that minded it's own business, and took care of it's citizens, to a nation that cares little for it's poor and tries to apply it's own vision on other countries. You are right we're p*ss**s. Just the way any other bully is deep down inside.

Either way we slice it, or dice it, whether it may come as a shock or not - the only answer is ISRAEL, ISRAEL's LOBBY and the ISRAELI sympathizers in the US.

If no one agrees, fine. The day is very near, when everyone will find out. Thanks to the Internet. And thanks to Y!Answers, people are knowing more from alternate sources.

We will get our America back once the culprit Israel is exposed to the American public. But we have to contend with China and India at that time. It will be ok, because the parasite will not be on us anymore.

The responsibiity lies with all these groups that influence the media. It's been said many times that if we had to fight WWII with today's media, we would have lost badly and probably be speaking Japanese or German or both. There are also too many critics who don't understand what they are talking about. So, in brief, it's little groups of people with decent media access and a media who loves to show them.

The people of my generation the baby boom the ones that came of age in the 60's are the most cynical self absorb and negative generation in American history. (ex of these people Kerry Clinton Jackson,Dean) they are in power in American institutions now. In the next 10-20 years they will start retiring and you will see a big change then.

I can't believe people think that its the laws and BUsh that hurt this country.... that goes to show you the average age of 12 thats answering this question...

The country was headed down the shitter years and years before...

I would have to say the majority of the downslide cam epost WWII era, yet pre vietnam...

many things have effected the decline of society

the shift from a quality vs quantity ideal, where the producer tries to knowingly screw the consumer out of as much as he can to get as wealthy as he can,. the focus of hard work is almost completely gone. This is a huge foundation taht are country was built upon, that is completely lost especially with the desire for everyone to be wealthy immediatly

way too much politcial involvemment in the military. THe military needs to be as far seperated from politicsa s possible,.. the military is a tool that is used to protect the people of the united states and this country as a whole,.... its not a ****** asset to be used to protect a small majorities intrests or fix other peoples ****** problems. Its not a global police force, and that has also been forgotton. But even more so is the fact that when you wield such a tool,. you need to use it properly,. and by putting political restraints on how you let them fight a war (in various conflicts) you cost lives and get crap results.

People are going to hammer me on this, but go for it, idk, if you can't read it, and make an informed arguement and just give me thumbs down, and reasopnable couterarguement, then you don't deserve to be answering questions above a 3rd grade level,.. but...
the breakdown of the traditional family and traditional family system has really casued a lot of problems across the united states. With the increase in divorce and single parent homes, you have children growing up without being raised leading to increase in crime, and child parents, which perpetuates an ugly cycle... now where did this start to originate (here comes the backlash from feminists) somewhat during the time when women achieved equal rights. Not a bad things at all,. but the unforseen side effect has been detrimental to the US. It in effect changed the traditional gender roles in such an extreme way, that no one was ready for it. Who could have saw that coming though.

Another issue that was one of those,.. "good intention" things is some of the affirmitive action programs that arose. Instead of working to ward equality, in effect they created even more anomosity, as the instead of equalling the roles, reversed them. This has lead to problems on both sides of the ball... once again,. .good intentions,.. but lack of forsight on the actaul results.. And i'm not just talking race here,.. I'm also talking non racial minority groups,.. like the kind where 10 people need to have something done to benifit their beliefs that screws over 10,000... becuase there rights need to be protected.... what a waste...

finally,. like washington said,.. partisan politics and foreighn alliances will kil this country,...

HE was so rigfht,... we need to resurrect him to get this country back on its feet. Look at how foreighn affairs have kicked us in the a$$...

and look at how bad partisain polotics is for the gov't. as if things weren't bad enough,.. instead of voting for the best candiate for the job,. you get airheads on tv saying,. i'm voting democrat,. or i'm voting republican,... would iot matter to them if frieken son of sam was on teh ticket for there party? NO!!! it wouldn't!! they just care about beating the other party,... I care about whos going to make this country better,.. and a damn donkey or elephant doesn't factor into that in my book....

Yes,.. America has some issues,... but unlsess the gov't gets off its butt and the people figure it out,. its going to cintinue on the downward spiral.

SO to sum it up,... its not the country as a whole tahts ******* pal,... but we have a definate influx of stupid vaginas on our hands... i think both the gov and the people share equal balme on this
