persons who do what the senses desire do not at all cross over the sea of worldly existence. An enlightened person is never overcome by the misery of worldly life.

An enlightened person sees the misery of the world and wishes to spread his/her wisdom, but realizes that man is rather stiff in the his mindset and will not change. That can be a cause.

Also, the misery of worldly life is something he/she must deal with, and like every other human, hard times can overwhelm him/her.

That or maybe the person has decieved theirself into believing they have reached enlightenment, when they have not.

An enlightened (relatively speaking) person is more naturally more empathic, & has higher goals than simple existence. So naturally he/she feels strongly all the good & bad of the world. So it is possible to be "overwhelmed" by the miseries as he is still human.
But I feel that if the miseries will ever be "overcome" it will be because of the contribution of these enlightened people.

Sorry, "enlightened" means "don't care at all".
You could not care at all if you know life is an illusion, but you doubt this.
If you don't care whether life is an illusion or not, you won't care about misery.

It's better be overcome by misery of life than ignoring it. Don't try to be "enlightened" that way.

You asked the question I am struggling with right now.
I am miserable yet I am also enlightened. I do know this is all an illusion. It happens when the mind becomes the master instead of the slave as it should be.
Control your mind. Be here now.

I live with a bipolar son. Severly bipolar. It's pretty damn miserable. I am pretty enlightened and still struggle with what to do next. But, I never give up hope because I believe in God.

What exactly is the question? How an enlightened person COULD be overwhelmed? i don't get it

rephrase the question...i'm confused.

Who says someone is enlightened? This cannot be assumed, as it is infathomable to begin with to an unenlightened. right?
