I guess ,much like all the races. we can't make a generalization and say that this is something that only black people do. It's just the same as asking how come all Mexican people have a million kids and keep their wives at home barefoot and pregnant? I'm Mexican and my family is SO NOT like that. Anyway, back to the point...I agree that this is the case with SOME black people and all I can think of is that maybe they watch too much MTV??? Seriously...talking about bling-bling, Louie Vuitton, Sean Jean, Baby Phat. They don't want people to stereotype but don't give us any reason to either by behaving badly in public or showing up in the welfare office (I work for the HRR Dept. there) with a Benz, fake nails, gold jewelry and a weave all up on your head. But that's just MY opinion.

Your question is offensive to many people. #1 some of the brightest people are African American/ Black. If you look into your own race you will find this question could read the same and you would or wouldn't find any more or less people that are people who aqcquire things to show off. A good portion of every 17-25 yr old I have met and I work with alot of them of many ethnicities are show offs. It is an age. Not a race! Or it is to show people they can have everything they have. But that has nothing to do with the color of your skin. This is extremely racist and to be able to be in the "Human Race" you need to stand back and "learn" about other peoples of our world. Do not label a certain group of people. You only show your ignorance!

If you open your eyes you would quickly find that European Americans show off much more than African Americans, and so many of those European Americans that have things to show off do so because they are raised in a society that has catered to them rather than oppressed them. African Americans on the other hand have to struggle for anything that they have in the first place.
If you were educated, or even the type of person interested in education you would not have asked this question in the first place. You effortlessly illustrate the ignorance possessed by many but not all of those within your ethnic group.

Quit categorizing all African Americans. In a small way, I like questions like this, because you're so hell bent on degrading African Americans, you don't even realize, how stupid you're making yourself look. Read your question again, now i'm assuming that you're white, tell me why is it, that "some" white people, don't take the time out, to get to know African Americans and are so quick to assume that all African Americans act the same way. You are contradicting yourself, by saying African Americans do things to "show off", rather than learn. You need to "learn" how to stop "judging" and "stereo-typing" people. You're the one that has alot to learn, with that oneway track mind of yours.

properly this is a generalization yet i think of that's in basic terms a style style of element. think of roughly it like this. lots of the rappers are black and that they coach off their gold on their tooth and jewellery so their followers are replica cats. then you definitely've the rock singers w/the messy hair and rocking out and that they have their replica cats. Then the country singers are into their cowboy hats and %. up autos and fatigue style clothing and as quickly as returned they have THEIR replica cats. that's in basic terms a definite style. Now as for saying they have not any interest in getting to grasp, you're in basic terms being hateful. you have your style of want besides. in basic terms because of the fact somebody's style isn't like yours, that doesn't propose they do no longer look to be interested in getting to grasp. I hate racism and that i wish people such as you could fall of the face of the earth and get misplaced.

Look I hate to tell you this but that is not just a "black people" thing. I live in a white community and we have plenty of those "show off" people here.

Are you sleep deprived? Stop being provocative.
You don't know enough black people to make such a generalization.
If you were more interested in learning, you'd have figured that out.

Not all of us. A lot of African Americans want to learn and do.
We don't see a lot of them. But the media is quick to show us the other and uhh.. white people show off too.
