Soda or Pop?

Question

What word or words do you use to express a unspecified carbonated drink? and What part of the U.S. (or other country) are you from?

I say soda and I'm from TN, but when I moved to IN everyone said pop. My spanish teacher says that when she lived in NY everyone said reffered to soda as tonic.

i lived in boston an they say Tonic also down in florida they say soda when i visited my family in canada they say pop and my cousins in cali say cola... but i normaly say get me a coke or MT dew

I say soda, but I'm a rarity in Colorado - most people call it pop. I just refuse to. I am originally from Mississippi and everyone there calls everything Coke. I was at a drive-through there once and ordered a medium Coke and the guy actually asked me what kind. I thought I was going to have to spell it out for him.

Pop...I'm from Ohio.
I know that people in the east...like NY, CT, etc. usually say soda. Midwest is usually pop.

I say pop here in Michigan, my son in laws family in Alabama say soda.

We called it Soda in Georgia or more specifically we called it Coke
I live outside Chicago now and it is called Pop
When I go down South, they look at me funny now.
