I'm looking for a web application I can incorporate into my website that allows people to upload videos to your community video site. Where can I start looking at some solutions for this?

Its easy to do in Linux, and its free. Ruby on Rails or just Ruby is a neato programming language that does PHP,ASP,MPT,any file format any computer language. I can type a line of code in a Ruby shell and it will publish as soon as I press Enter. It comes with MacOSX, but Microsoft wants to buy it so people cant use it anymore.
Go Linux, Ruby runs in Linux,Windows, Mac,BeOS,whatever. The thing is dont buy anymore Windows Coded Programs, once the Windows Brand is on it, they own it and everything created with it.

Most web-oriented programming frameworks (PHP, ASP, ColdFusion, etc.) support file-uploading of any sort. It requires a little bit of programming know-how to implement this. You can also buy uploading packages that add features like a progress bar, but those also require programming knowledge to implement them. Finally, with the video aspect I presume you are talking about something YouTube-like, wherein the user can upload a video in many different formats (QuickTime, AVI, etc.) and it will convert it to a standard format in Flash so everyone can view it easily. To the best of my knowledge these apps are homegrown; you would likely have to write a comparable piece of software yourself. It would not be too terribly difficult; using .NET or PHP there are likely several libraries for sale that will facilitate video format conversion, but you have to do the plugging-together of the pieces to make it all work as one.

There are many web based applications to do just that.

Question is...... Are you on your own server, or one provided?
does your server allow CGI, PEARL, PEAR, PHP or other scripting languages?

How much storage and bandwidth do you have?

all of these are important to know BEFORE you open an upload site for your users.

to better understand the actual page programing, you should first check out your options through your service provider.

Or a lots much less complicated way, pass on your handle tab, click on password supervisor, create new identity and pw. Then, click on enable ftp get admission to, yet then be constructive to set the get admission to ingredient to a pre-chosen folder, ie: uploads. via placing the get admission to ingredient, you will no longer enable human beings to get admission to something of your website via way of ftp customer.
