Buy a nailpolish from a drug store that helps prevent you from biting the. It tastes bad and gross, so when you want to bite your nails, you won't. Although, the nailpolish looks awesome!

First you have to want to stop. I know that sounds weird but nail biting is a sort of oral fixation that some people use to comfort themselves. Recognize when you are most likely to chew and identify with your emotions. Try free expression in a private journal, listing the times and events just prior. Re-read these thoughts often and see if you can discover the triggers. Pick up a new hobby, like knitting or crocheting. If this does not cure you, at least your hands will be too busy, that you won't be able to chew on your nails! Good luck!

Paint them with a liquid called Bitter Apple. If the pharmacy doesn't have it (they should, but some don't) you can buy it at Petco. It won't hurt you, you WON'T be biting your nails with that stuff on them!
They sell it at pet stores to keep dogs from chewing furniture, and it works. It used to be popular with parents to keep kids from thumb sucking and nail biting, but people stopped using it, don't know why.
The gentleman who said that nail biting can lead to infection is so right. You really don't want to get to that point, I've heard that it's VERY painful.
I used to nibble mine right to the quick until they bled, and they hurt so bad all the time. After I reached that point I just stopped one day. I think that I kept my hands balled in fists for like 3 weeks, but I stopped! I'll take willpower over Bitter Apple any day.

Get acrylic nails, SOME brands help your nail grow, and it'd be too hard to chew on plastic. If that doesn't work, use some of that bitter nail polish, but only use it every 2 weeks or so or until all of it chips off, or you'll get used to the taste. And file your nails down so there won't be anything to chew.

we both have the same problem..
that's why i decided to apply some nail polish (i used the colorless one for subtlety) and it did stop me from biting.. it REALLY helped...and when the polish starts wearing off, remove them with an acetone and apply a new coating again.

If you don't stop, you will have morphed nails that will cost you $$ to repair, and they might get extremely infected. You might also get a serious mouth infection.
Food for thought.
