"Well, of COURSE, but I was thinking of something you could unwrap in front of the children."
We used to make a point of, er, "breaking in" the tree every year, preferably on Christmas Eve but at least once between the 15th and New Year's Eve. Since the kids have gotten older (and, more to the point, more likely to walk out into the front room in the middle of the night -- and in the words of Bart Simpson, "Only sick people want to watch MY parents kiss"), we haven't been as rigorous in our observance of this ritual as we once were.
Be that as it may, I fully expect, sometime between now and, oh, the 27th or so, to lie back, heart racing and back beginning to de-arch as my toes uncurl, still panting and trying to catch my breath while my wife straightens up, grins, and asks, "Well, was more or less what you were hoping for, dearest?"
Better than a legendary official Red Ryder 200-shot carbine action range model air rifle with a compass and this thing which tells time built right into the stock ANY day.

I don't know about for Christmas, but ever since somebody wrote; "For a good time, call John on the Ladies room wall, I've been having a lot of good times." (That marker was the best investment I ever made.)
