First, does the light turn on?

If not check the outlet that the frig is plugged into. Use a lamp or something electric for this check if you don't have testers.

If the lamp does not turn on you obviously don't have power. Check your breaker and ground fault protector. If either of them are tripped it would cut off power to the frig.

Note that the GFCI could be located anyplace in the house and is an outlet that has a "Test" and "Reset" button on the front of it. If you press the reset and it pops right back out again it means you have a ground fault somewhere, but the ground fault may not be the refrig.

Unplug everything that is not working in the house, even the frig and try to reset the GFCI. If it does reset, plug in the other stuff one at a time to determine which one is tripping the GFCI.

A similar approach can be taken if it is the circuit breaker that is tripping. Unplug everything that is not working and reset the breaker. Plug stuff back in one at a time to see what cause the breaker to trip.

It could have lost freon. The compressor could have gone out. The fan could have burned out. There are lots of things that could have gone wrong. If you see the light is on, inside, something in the cooling section has malfunctioned. There are no owner parts that you can interchange. The cooling system is a long copper tube that runs from the compressor to the evaporator, down through the coil to dissipate the heat removed from inside the box, and back to the compressor. This copper tube is brazed together, so ther is nothing for you to do to it. If a leak has occurred, the leak must be fixed, then a vacuum pump is used to remove any air and moisture inside the system. After this is done, then a tech can charge your system with freon. It is put into the system, under pressure. The tech uses a special set of gauges, to monitor the pressure of the freon, and this is how he knows when he has enough in the system.

Unplug it. Plug a radio that you know works into that outlet. If it works, then your fridge is dead and get it fixed or get a new one. If the radio doesn't work, then check your fuse box for a tripped breaker or bad fuse (if you still have fuses, like me).

And if the fuse is bad and you cannot figure out which it is, in the meantime run an extension cord to your fridge so that the food will not go bad.

Some fridg/freezers have a gas in them, you may need to call a repair man and have him check it out. Is you interior light on? If so it is not the electric.

If it's actually working, but not cooling properly, it could very well be the fan. I had the same thing happen to mine when we moved it. What happened was that the fan got off center and stopped blowing. We just moved it a couple of times and it started again. Good luck,
Tina
