Im going to graduate from highschool pretty soon and im thinking of going into real estate, is any one in real estate right now? Can you tell me about it. One of my concerns is that i might look too young and people wont take me serious, do you think that might be a problem?

First off, when looking for a good school, make sure the classroom is not in a rented building. A good school would know how to buy a building. If you're afraid of looking too young, marry my ex-wife, I'm 22, but I look 86. Thanks to her.

Unless your behavior warrants such, I don't think anyone would intentionally not take you seriously.

I would call a local real estate office and express your interest and see if they know of resources in your area. I know several real estate offices here hold seminars that help you get your license (I think it's $89 for one of the schools in Oklahoma). and then you're pretty much guaranteed a job with them when you finish.

As far as looking too young, as long as you always dress and act professionally, they're going to think you're a young professional. The best thing you can do is work on sales skills (either take college courses in sales or check out books from your library) so you understand the mental process a buyer goes through, and also once you get in there, know your products! know what you have available and listen to your customer.

Good luck!

real estate can be a difficult business to break into. even if you join an established brokerage you are often expected to find your own clients and pay for your own advertising.

however, there are plenty of jobs that require a real estate license that might be good for starting out. you could work for a rental company and get some experience that way.

if you dress professionally and act professionally, you should be fine. leave the teeny-bopper attitude at home.

i'm also going to give you some advice you did not ask for. if you are female, never show a house, apt., property, etc to a male by yourself. never host an "open house," where you stay in the house for hours by yourself and wait for people to stop in. don't ever make yourself a target for an attack. female real estate agents are often targeted by perverts. be careful.

follow your dream and be successful.
