i feel i will not enjoy it was much if I go alone. but my plans fell through tonight (due to my own mistake, forgetting my cell phone) and I almost went alone, but decided against it.

what is it about movies, that you feel like you can't go alone? it's not an interactive experience like dinner, and I can go shopping alone. why doesn't anyone go to the movies alone?

I have no problem going to a film alone. I have done it many times. For a the past few semesters, I've had a few free hours between classes on some days, and sometimes I like to catch a movie during that free time. I also notcied that there were always sereval people there on thier own.

I think most people feel too self-conscious going to the cinema alone. They feel like people are looking at them, like they couldn't get a date or something!

The only advice I have, is to not go at night, especially on a Friday or Saturday. If you feel weird about going alone, don't go when everyone is there in groups or with dates. Then you really WILL feel weird about it, and people probably WILL be looking at you!

When I went to the movies, I usually went alone.

I saw what I wanted, at the time I wanted. I never had to wait for anyone to show up, wondering if they were going to be late, if we could find a seat if they were late...

If I did go to the movies with someone else, it was usually a friend, or a family member. But most of the time, I went by myself.

Now, movies are too expensive, the theaters are too crowded, and whatever piece of tripe is being shown in the theaters today, will be on cable within 6 to 7 months. On DVD in 6 1/2.

So I don't go too often anymore.

Absolutely. I really only started in the last year or so. I got a new job in another state and had no friends or family in the area. I work from my home also so there is no chance to meet new friends at work so I go see movies and go to dinner alone. It is not that bad. I do draw the line at going on a Friday or Saturday night though.
Try it once or twice. After all, who is better company than yourself.

I did a couple times, but it was the first showing of the day. I felt kinda lame for doing it, but that's probably because I was seeing Return of the King for the 4th and 5th times, and I was kinda new at the whole insane fan thing. I haven't gone alone since, but I would probably do it again. You're right...it's not an interactive thing (for most people, anyway.) It's just...lonely.

I think its because its been classified as a group activity and it brings out a feeling of lonliness to go alone, but lots of people do it. A movie is a movie. If you want to go see it, no one is going to notice if you go by your lonesome. And even if they do, which I doubt, they won't judge you. As far as they know, your meeting someone or maybe you're a film student

I went to see Fight Club by myself and it was alright. I feel better when I can make comments to someone else, rather than tell the whole story to someone or watching it again with someone. I'm one of those annoying people that talk during the movies.

I only have once. I like going with other people, but once I got bored while at a little party downtown so I went to a movie.

i've been to the movies a few times by myself. i'll go see movies that my husband or friends don't want to see. the last movie i saw by myself was dark ride last month. it's not a bad experience to go by yourself in fact it's nice not having to worry about people showing up on time and maybe being late, and every now and then it's just nice to have some "me time"

I went to see The Da Vinci Code alone. No one wanted to see it with me and I had a free night. Try it. You might enjoy it!

I do go alone sometimes. Its never a big deal. But never go to a comedy alone, because when it comes to a funny part you laugh and look around but have no one to share the moment with. ha..
