Dog poop isn't great for your garden, like cow manure is. Best to throw it away.

The best way to remove it is put a plastic bag over your hand and pick it up, then turn the bag around (so you don't touch it) and tie a knot to seal it off.

Dog crap is organic so you should be able to compost it along with the rest of your garbage and lawn wastes. Many local government facilities actually sell composters if you don't have one already. For garbage and dog crap you want a totally enclosed one.

I've attached a link to a site that sells many. The "Home" composter should do fine. We have one like that and it never fills up. Been putting stuff in it for 3 or 4 years and it just digests it. i'm sure we will have to empty is someyear but we must still have a decade worth of space left. (We only put garbage in this one, no lawn waste.)

While you can compost dog waste, you should only use the compost on non-edible plants (like flowers, shrubs or other ornamentals - don't use it in a garden). The temps in a compost pile do not get sufficiently high to kill some of the egg/cyst forms of parasites that can occur in dog doo.

To be on the safe side, I bag and toss my dogs' poo in the trash.

i have an spot in the garden where i throw it, it builds up a little bit then starts composting really quickly. every now and again i throw some lawn clippings or a shovel full of soil over it.

the earthworms in the garden around it are enormous.

You can leave piles all over the lawn. They are as effective as land mines at keeping the neighbors out.
