The intel 945gm express chipset says it has a pci express x16 graphics port but didn't say what are the compatible cards and how to install it. Can anyone tell me if its possible to add a pci express graphics card in a 945gm chipset so I can play games with better graphics.

Correction: I see this refers to the notebook mobo.

The graphics options would be determined by the laptop manufacturer. There are some mobile Radeon/Geforce options, but you'd have to see what they offer for your specific model. The 7600 isn't bad, the 7900 is great. What brand of notebook is this?

Update: Here's an article which probably answers your question- scroll down to the bottom paragraph titled "CONCLUSION"

the chipset intel 945gm means it has an integrated GMA 950 graphics controller, but there is no port to install a pci express graphics card.
to have a "dedicated" graphics card it needs the intel chipset 945pm, but these cards are not available on the free market and can only be mounted by the manufacturer.

so i'm sorry, you stuck with the GMA 950.

Partial answer: The Geforce 2 MX is not very modern. I have it on an older 128 mb graphics board. Saying that, the 945GM has a reputation as a slowboat, though I've never personally used it. It's an on-the-board for an all-in-one, correct? I've never, ever seen one of those that are anywhere comparable to a recent standalone board. YMMV.

PCI-E is a standard port for a graphics card. You can buy any PCI-E graphics card and use it with that computer.

It depends on the specific implementation if you have any PCI-Ex16 slots. It's NOT dependent on the existing video chipset.
