What are a few things i should do when i first get my laptop its a inspiron 1501?

Any suggestions make it run better just wondering if i should like install anything offline and should i install games and like itunes after other stuff also i have PC-cillin 2007 when should i install that first thing or wat

The first thing you should do (and this is a tip you normally only learn through a costly mistake) is this: work out and implement your backup strategy.

Yawn. Hardly exciting - you've just got your new machine and some idiot on Yahoo Answers is talking about something dull. Do it some other day...


NO! DO IT NOW! If you have the cash, get an external hard drive. If there's a network you're usually connected to, then be nice to someone and beg some space on some desktop's hard drive. Then famialirise yourself with some suitable copying program (xcopy, robocopy, whatever), decide what needs to be backed up and then DO SO ON A DAILY BASIS (or perhaps even more frequently if appropriate).

You will be glad of this when your laptop's drive blows up. Don't find out the hard way that backups are worthwhile!

First thing is to do preventive measures. Load your anti virus, personal firewall, spyware etc. Better to prevent now than pay later with poor performance because spyware is eating up all your processor. Visit the Microsoft or Dell site and be sure you are current on patches and software, this will save you later if you have a problem that everything is current. It is an easy process to follow. Do all of this before you start surfing the web, there is a lot of nasty things just waiting for an unprotected machine out there, then have fun and enjoy.

Definitly study the handbook first, acquire the updates for the computing device;s working equipment. ANd that would desire to be it. And donet acquire video games to it yet, wait some weeks to work out how yoru computing device is like with gaming capapbilities.
