That was in the article "Not black like me" where Obama is said not to have the black support. Many reporters have agreed because they said Obama is received better by whites than with blacks who are "lukewarm" about him. The reason is that his father is Kenyan and not a descendant from a slave in a plantation. Obama doesn't share that with blacks of America and he also didn't indentify with the civil rights movement. Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and other famous blacks connect with the blacks because they shared the civil rights struggle and can trace their ancestry to a southern plantation. Obama's father is from Kenya, Africa who doesn't have any relation to slavery. Obama is also biracial (white Kansas mother) and his stepfather is from Indonesia, Obama was raised in Indonesia and speaks Indonesian. He isn't your typical black politician. He is multicultural, a blend of ethnicities, and has Harvard pedigree. This alienates him from blacks who idolize Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson becusae they see them as "true blacks". The writer of the article said that Obama needs the black vote to win in the primaries and he needs to do something about this situation. I always knew that if a black candidate emerged, he will have this problem.

i dont know if thats true, but my answer to that would be that is touts himself as an african american when is not. not in the sense that the african americans are descendants of slavery. he is the son of a white woman and a kenyan foreign student studying in hawaii. and then he went back to kenya. he likes to take on the mantel of african american, when he is not one in the truest sense.
