At last someone with common sense around here!!!
I completely agree with you, it has it all: great story (Mario Puzo), great soundtrack (Nino Rota), great direction (Coppola) and fantastic performances (Brandon and Al Pacino). I also liked the second part very much, Robert De Niro really did his thing there.

I don't know if it is the best of all time, but Jesus it is a great movie, it's one of the few movies that people could say is the best and I would not argue with them that's for sure. If you take Godfather I and Godfather II together as Coppola had wanted then you've got yourself one piece of art and film that would be tough to beat. Personally I love Two probably more so then One and together they are nothing short of perfection. They are movies that all movie lovers should have and watch, they are very special.

i am 37 and i have never watched the gfather movies!reason>because whenever 1st gfather film is shown i have been unable to see it all the way through. family or friends or work commitments have prevented me ,therefore i will not watch any of the gfather films until i see 1 all the way through first.video was rented by a neighbour and i loaned it but it was virtually unwatchable on my vcr at the time(tried tracking)it is simply not meant to be!but before the day i pass over may god damn me if i do not get to see all these gfather films from beginning to end.FIRST before i die.on my death bed if need be.

The Godfather movie is great, because thats the way it was, I grew up during those times and thats the way organized crime was and still is.

It has to be in the Top Ten List. For sure.

Godfather I and II, but NOT III.

The theme song is also in the Top Ten Best Scores of All Time.

It tops the IMDB top 250 films with an average of 9.1 from 185,717 votes so I would have to agree with you. Although it's not one of my personal Favourites but I can see why people think it's so good.
